Rhys Phillips

Rhys is an electromagnetism scientist at Airbus Central R&T in Toulouse where he has worked since 2018, following almost 10 years working for Airbus in the UK. Rhys graduated from Cardiff University in 2008 with a BSc in Mathematics & Physics. In 2016, he was made an honorary lecturer at the School of Physics & Astronomy. He is an award-winning science presenter and an experienced broadcaster, presenting his own weekly jazz and science radio shows.

Rhys volunteers in numerous roles for the Institution of Engineering & Technology, is Vice President of Public Relations for the non-profit organisation, European Young Engineers, and has been a QEPrize Ambassador for several years.

Before moving to France, Rhys co-founded both Cardiff Science Festival and Cardiff Jazz Festival and when not behind a microphone or in the lab, he can be found performing on stage with various musical groups around Toulouse.
