Omar Shobair, QEPrize Ambassador

Omar is an emerging engineering education researcher at University College London's (UCL) Centre for Engineering Education. With a background in civil and structural engineering and master’s degrees in Civil Engineering and Engineering & Education, his research explores how engineering education can become more inclusive, engaging, and supportive for students from diverse backgrounds.

Alongside his research, Omar has worked in structural engineering practice and has been involved in mentoring, student engagement, and public outreach. He is particularly interested in belonging and inclusion in higher education, student development, sustainability, and the future of engineering education. Through his work, he hopes to contribute to developing engineers who are not only technically skilled but also equipped to make a positive difference in society.
