What are you studying?
I am from Iraq, I study automation of technological processes and production (Industrial automation) at Ufa State Petroleum Technological University, which is located in Ufa, Russia.
What do you love about design?
To design, you have to create, and to create, you have to push your limits. For me, design is about exploring the hidden beauty of shapes and their combinations.
What was the inspiration behind your design?
The inspiration behind this design was the structure of a new wind turbine, and the binary code concept inspired me to create a grid-like structure for some curves. From the top view the trophy looks like part of a chemical structure.
Which areas of engineering do you find most interesting?
I find electrical and architectural areas of engineering the most interesting. Electrical engineers create wonders that no one had imagined before, like true science fiction. Architects build gigantic structures, and create a better environment for people to live. Their work stays as evidence of a civilized community.
What advice would you give to other designers thinking of entering the competition next year?
Keep it simple, good design doesn't have to be complicated, but get the viewer thinking about your design by giving meaning to the details. Express all your ideas, you are allowed to upload as many designs as you like.
