My design is inspired by honeycomb. The reason my design is shaped this way is that I wanted the viewer to be able to see a hexagon no matter where you look at it from. Hence the base of the trophy is a hexagon so if you were to look at it from the top or bottom you would see a hexagon. I did this because I wanted to represent all the different things engineers need to consider including which material to use, the environment, safety and whether this design will last and achieve its aims. I also thought being able to see the hexagons no matter where you looked at the trophy was a good metaphor for the importance of different perspectives and the importance of hearing from a wide range of people with different backgrounds and therefore different perspectives.
