Elijah Haider

My work represents the balance in the physical reality that we live in, showing two checkered boards colliding, while balancing on one angle, looking imbalanced, but yet very stable.

The checkered boards are inspired by the checkered flooring of the Masonic Lodge; a chequer-work of black and white squares denotes the dual quality of everything connected with terrestrial life and the physical groundwork of human nature, representing man’s earthly nature, the good and bad, the yin and yang.

But I believe that holding my work as a hostage to its original meaning is creating a limitation. So viewers can have their own experience and judgment of what my art really means to them, from their own point of view.
