It was inspired by beehives and hexagons in general. It is beautiful how nature empowers its tiniest inhabitants to design structurally sound, strong, and beautiful practical designs. No extensive knowledge of architecture just pure instinct and a specimen of beauty is born. I chose the shape because a honeycomb represents the hard work and practicality of the bees, which not only keeps inspiring us to do better but represents the spirit of consistency, which is the same spirit that has enabled the winners of the QEPrize to engineer their world-changing innovations.
