Michael Sharkey Milum, age 23, is a graduate engineer at Siemens. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Lancaster and is currently studying for a masters in Reliability Engineering and Asset Management at the University of Manchester. Michael shared with us why he loves engineering.

I’ve always been fascinated by how things go together, whether that was playing with lego as a small child, or looking at large machinery in my current job role.

I currently get to be involved in a wide range of engineering activities, and the fact that no two working days are the same is what motivates me. It’s great to see and be involved with so many different industries and organizations that require engineers to function.

Once I finish my current role on the graduate scheme, I’d like to manage engineering projects so I’m able to see the physical outcome of my work.
